Reclamation Center, Peterborough, NH
The town dump
where aluminum is sifted
from chaff of cardboard
where I love to drop my
bottles one glass
ingot at a time
to hear each shatter
at the bottom of the bin
where men
wear overalls as they
drive baby forklifts
swaddling shifting mounds
of newsprint
onto spiny picks
where one man and a magnet
sorts metals out
Why, as I
determine if my cardboard
is corrugated,
may I not stay longer
in this lovely place?
